... Presume that one has both Jupiter [Guru] and Rahu in the sign of Taurus. What general conclusion could one draw from this arrangement? I'm presuming that in Jyotisha or traditional Vedic astrology, two planets (Graha) are automatically in conjunction when they occupy the same sign or house. (Concerning the house location of those two bodies, i'm not quite sure.) Thank you for any consideration that you may give to this question.

A:

Although Jyotisha graha are pretty tightly interlinked with each other, and Generally, it's misleading to judge graha without knowing all of their drishti, bhava, characteristics of varga placements, et-cetera... a few general conclusions may be drawn about this pair of Guru-yuti-Rahu-Urisha.

  • when Guru-yuti-Rahu share a rashi in the radical nativity, they will also share a bhava. However, in the " bhava chart" they might be in adjacent houses based on their degree positions.

  • Guru-yuti-Rahu shares a rashi thus their combined Parashari drishti will have a very strong influence on four bhava = 1/3/ of the total real estate of the chart. The Guru-yuti-Rahu pair can gain a disproportionate influence because both Guru and Rahu cast 5-7-9 drishti.

  • Professor Rahu always amplifies His ruler, which is Vrishabha is Shukra. Professor Rahu will also amplify the results of His co-tenants, which in this nativity include Brihaspati. Rahu will amplify Guru and Guru will further expand (in terms of numbers and area) the range of Rahu. Guru is by nature the graha of wisdom and abundance, but in Vrishabha which is enemy-territory for Guru there is often too much expansion of the ways of Shri Bhrigu " the slippery slope" .

Concluding this brief and partial assessment of a single Guru-yuti-Rahu behavior complex in Vrishabha, it could be said that the outcome of the Guru-yuti-Rahu pair depends first and foremost upon the characteristics of Professor Bright Beautiful Bhrigu.

Cindy Crawford has Guru-yuti-Rahu in bhava-7 which casts drishti direct upon her physical body (lagna). Cindy Crawford's Shukra occupies Makara, asuperb placement for beautiful bone structure. Makara does not indicate sex or mystery. Makara is concerned with structure, status, profession, civic duty, and hierarchies of respect (respect = "look again" ) based on control of material resources , cintamani * mani * money and power.

  • By comparison, brooke Shields has Guru-yuti-Rahu + [Shukra-yuti-Budha] + Ravi -- all in Vrishabha, and all in bhava-8!! Guru-yuti-Rahu for Brooke Shields does not cast drishti upon The earthen body lagna directly, but rather upon domains-12, 2, and 4 - with 2 being the second marriage. The psychological complexities of Brooke Shields' sensuality and personal life are well known.

Effect of Urisha's Ruler Shukra

For your own kundali, at this point, it is necessary to find Shukra and determine Shukra's character. Only then is it possible to say what type of behavior Rahu-Guru are engaged in. But one thing we do know: it's all about sensual experience (food, sex, money, language, music, knowledge) and its range of influence in the lifestyle is quite wide.

Effect from Chandra-lagna

Also evaluate Rahu + Guru's angle to Chandra. Chandra is the baseline for all emotional relationships (parents, children, spouse, etc.)

  • If Rahu + Guru were e.g. in 7th-from-Chandra, the first spouse might be rather full of oneself, rather generous, sensual (rashi of Shukra), and likes mingling with foreigners [Rahu] and breaking social taboo [Rahu].

  • If Rahu + Guru occupy 2nd-from-Chandra, those characteristics belong to the second marriage partner.

  • Ninth-from-Soma = father.

  • 4th-from-Soma = maternal grandmother.

  • Rahu + Guru would be a noticeable effect if the father had it, or the mother's mother.

Find the relative indicated by the angle from the Moon, and think about their character. That relative's behavior will give a good description of the Rahu-Guru profile.

Study the charts of Family members

  • One piece of advice for the beginner: when trying to figure out the effect of yoga like Guru-yuti-Rahu, don't concentrate too much on one's own personality as seen in one's own Jyotisha radix-navamsha.

  • It's hard to be objective about oneself. Trying to match one's own supposed personality traits to the moving target of a chart that one doesn't quite know how to read yet, is too vague a matching process to really start to see the patterns.

  • Rather, work with your known relatives, including spouse (s) as counted from Chandra lagna and too from radix rashi lagna. The student of samavidya may tend to know the family-tree relatives' personalities/traits pretty accurately, including the key biographical dates which can be checked with other family members. Therefore, careful study of the life trajectories of relatives can provide easily recognized confirmation of Jyotishavidya principles.
