BPL commentary

For Svatika births of a masculine valence, the disposition of mesmerizing, hypnotic, shadowy, exciting, passionate, ambitious, opportunistic, privilege-seeking Professor Rahu may considerably affect the outcome.

For those born into the paradigm of Nishthya, exotics, ethnic mixers, opportunists, fascinators, mesmerizers, privilege-seekers, impostors, rogues, agents of passion and desire, self-proclaimers, self-promoters, charlatans, masters of smoke and oils, and entrancingly ambitious persons may be especially influential.

Guided by the instructing intelligences of Arcturus. Their purpose is to broker trade agreements and balance the interests of multiple ambitious stakeholders.

Social justice, personal power

Rahu-ruled Svatika gentlemen are Mix-Master Middlemen. They tend to be fascinating figures. By skillfully mixing and trading with different folks, Svatika chaps build exotic new exchange relationships. They are often found in policy organizations and government agencies, where their social equity work is distinctively multi-cultural.

Their roles include trader, exchanger, bridge-builder, diplomat, negotiator, deal-maker, bargainer, marriage-matcher, alliance-designer, and other balancing activities that engage two mismatched sides within one functional agreement.

Svatika represents Rahu's desire to amplify Zukra's quest for harmonious agreements. Rahu challenges cultural boundaries. The mix-master may skillfully combine unusual agents and mismatched agendas in order to obtain a rebalanced status. Similar to Shataviskaka, the Svatika-born are mixed-system orchestrators who may take direction from Otherworldly sources. The character of Rahu is determinative.

Due to their Rahu-gifted ability to think outside the box, Svatika-born may realize previously unthinkable opportunities for diplomacy and fair exchange. Their success is noted in negotiation, trade-deals, and bargaining in commodities, ideas, or services. In politics, Nishthya fellows may be associated with social, economic, or political integration of previously hostile or excluded participants. Their special talent is dealing with those who may be rogues, outsiders, stigmatized, or posturing frauds. Vayu-born graciously mix people and environments that were once segregated, by making successful pairings between ethnicities, religions, nations, or individuals of differing practice.

Their pursuit of a social justice agenda is not entirely idealistic. It is ultimately motivated by their desire to obtain privilege by facilitating partnership geared to increased barter, brokerage, and exchange.

Themes of opportunity, fascination with appearances, and acquisition of privilege may contextualize Svatika's terrestrial experience. Applies also to Svatika-Chandra

QUOTATION from Shil-Ponde. (1939). Hindu Astrology Joytisha-Shastra. p 84.

"... a slow and deliberative character,

  • almost ponderous in thought and action

  • Yet, intelligent and logical

While he may be slower at arriving at conclusions than most people,

  • on final analysis his reasoning is sound

  • and his conclusion more accurate than others who may be more brilliant.

He is very religious, somewhat orthodox,

  • and his environment permitting will attend church regularly

  • or at any rate participate in some religious activity.

Many priests or ministers are found to have Swati on the Rising Point."

Anxiety

Kuja-Shani mutual drishti = associated with anxiety. Calvin was said to suffer acutely from anxiety among numerous other ailments. Ongoing worry and reflexive caution would have been fully understandable given the volatile political-religious climate, house raids, expulsions, and public burning at the stake which were common occurrences in his venue.

Mangala-9 rules

  • 2-banking, treasuries, savings, capital
  • 7-contacts, fair-deals, equity, representation, advocacy

The Protestant Reformation in western Europe in the 1500's was an era of violent persecution for heresy, and continuous social upheaval caused inter alia by the rise of mercantilism, nationalism and widespread literacy due to the new printing press (Mangala-Mithunaya).

JC led a refugee sangha of Protesting Christians who were in constant danger of torture and death from their theological competitors in the Catholic Church. Despite the ongoing attacks from the taxing priesthood of the Church of Rome, the refugee protestors (Protestants) quickly realized acquisition of capital gains when freed from the taxes and tithes of the older religious hierarchy.

Although represented as an abstract theology, much of Calvin's doctrine delivered direct and indirect messages about usury, taxation, banking, and contract law. (He was a trained lawyer.)

  • His later writings were actually transcripts of his extensive sermons, written by corps of amanuenses (scribes). JC often expressed regret that he could not take the time to edit his own words, and thus had to accept the prospect of misinterpretation of his arguments * Shani-Kanya burden of argument

Chronic illness leads to exhaustion from Overwork

His lifetime featured chronic illnesses and persistent animosity from the social order, indicated not only by Shani in Bhava-12 in 6th-from-Chandra

Idelette was a widow with two living children when she married JC. Her deceased husband had been a friend of JC's. She brought a small endowment into her marriage with JC, cared diligently for his failing health (while her own health also faltered) and during the marriage she bore JC at least three children. Sadly, due to putra-pati-Shani-12, all of the children died in infancy.
