Pushya is considered to be the most auspicious of the twenty-seven lunar mansions. The symbols for this asterism are a lotus, circle, arrow and the udder of the sacred cow. The ancient name of Pushya in the Rig Veda was Tishya, the Celestial Archer. It has a deva temperament with the primary motivation of dharma, or right action. The ruling planet is Shani, or Saturn, which grounds the energy of this powerful nakshatra. The chief deity is Brahaspati, the High Priest of the Gods. Shani-ruled Pushya feels a natural rhythm in customary and conventional status hierarchies and established social ranks.

Affinity for the staidly ceremonial pomp and circumstance of the government and the temple. Comfortable in regulated, orderly Shani-environments of legislation, regulation, and maintenance of the social order.

Pushya is charitable by nature but also quite lawful and concerned with security as a matter of public order. Often a functionary in official organizations such as recognized charities.

Pushya take a systematic Shani-ized view of the Karkata's oceans. Often gifted in navigation, ship-craft, and seamanship. Pushya are often superbly ordered and procedural in their capacity to manipulate and direct a ship; thus roles such as naval commander and shipmaster come easily whether for career or for sport.
