Muhu-rita

Significations

Muhu* rita - Maharata * Muhurata *Muhurat

rhythm, rate (rita)

motion, movement (muhu)

*** in the muhu-rita chart below, sunrise is presumed to occur at 06h00m and each muhurta equals exactly 48 minutes

the 48-minute muhurta length is strictly theoretical and indeed artificial based on 1 24-hour diva-ratri * day = 30 sections sized 48 minutes each.

Every 48-minute slot is assigned a deity ruler.

In actuality, evenly dividing the 24-hour day by 27 nakshatra would yield 27 periods of 0.8888/hr = 27 sections of 52.8 minutes length.

to render the most accurate muhurta stop-start times for the actual location, specific location coordinates and the length of daylight from sunrise to sunset at the specific location must be calculated.

Pranam to " 300 Combinations" Jyotiṣika 1912-1998 BV Raman his muhurta descriptions in Prasna Marga, p. 46 and following
