BPL commentary: For Uttaraphalguni natives, the condition of pitrikaraka Surya considerably affects the outcome. Father-figures, politics, and drama are especially influential.
BPL commentary: although Shil Ponde's description often fits the Kanya pada 2-3-4 of Uttaraphalguni, the Simha pada-1 is rarely rough or ungrateful. Still, they can be impatient with others who are less confident or less intelligent.
"A proud and arrogant disposition,
Uttara natives are extremely intelligent
but because of their inordinate pride,
and are ungrateful to those from whom they receive these favors."

NOTES on the commonly cited Time of Birth for Napoleon Bonaparte
Astrodatabank.com states: "Name Bonaparte, Napoleon I Gender: M Birth name Bonaparte, Louis Napoleon born on 15 August 1769 at 11:30 (= 11:30 AM Place Ajaccio, Corsica, 41n46, 8e48 time zone LMT m8e48 Data source From memory Rodden Rating A. "See the detailed discussion at astrodatabank.com
BPL comment: The oft-cited birth time of 1100 or 1130 = not from "memory" of an observer of the birth but rather from the anecdote that Napoleon's mother went into labor in Corsica when she was sitting in church for the purpose of hearing Holy Mass, which service was presumably being offered at the hour approaching noon.
Indeed, the time and even the date of Napoleon's birth are questioned. One scholar has asserted that 15-Aug-1769 is actually the birth date of Napoleon's younger brother and that the France-Emperor reign 1804-1815 himself was actually born on 07-Jan-1968 at an unknown time. Napoleon's parentage is also questioned.

Napoleon's father was an Italian aristocrat who became a foreign (12) emissary from Corsica to the French court. His main source of income was operating a prison (12) and military garrison (12, dormitories) on Corsica.
MOTHER Chandra-5 receives drishti of Chandra's ruler Shanaicarya ++ Budha-lagnesha-karmesha. Napoleon was the fourth of thirteen children born to his mother Letizia Ramolino of Corsica. She was known as a tough disciplinarian. Historians consider her to have been a primary shaping influence upon his character whereas his father (12) was less influential. Hailing from a Swiss family, she was married at age thirteen, and gave birth to thirteen human babies, of which eight survived.
When he gained political power, Napoleon gave royal titles to all of his surviving siblings (Budha lagnesha identifies with siblings)
Mother was uneducated but possessed of some funds via her husband's military-garrison and prison-management jobs * Shani-11 + Budha-11
She was reputed to be a strict (Shani) household manager with an earthy style. By all accounts, she was a stern even harsh mother who was willing to whip her children for purpose of maintaining order in the household (or have them punished by servants). However the household ran smoothly.
Her strictness included the requirement that her children should be bathed every other day. This conflicted with the centuries-old European fear of bathing as the guaranteed way to die of cold-fever; European mothers rarely bathed their children and indeed in those days most adults resisted the habit of the water-bath. The local folk (Chandra) balked at her habit but she persisted.Birth order
Napoleon was his mother's fourth child. Her first child, a son Napo-leone (new lion) was born and died in 1865. The famous empire-builder Napoleon born in 1869 was named after his brother.
Psychically, this is probably a case of the same spirit dying, reorganizing, and returning to Earth bubble for a second, more successful attempt.
7th-from-Chandra-5 = spouse-1 = bhava-11 friendship, economics
2nd-from-Chandra-5 = spouse-2 = bhava-6 animosity, ailment
Shani occupies 7th-from-Chandra suggesting an elder first spouse. Born in 1763, Josephine de Beauharnais was previously widowed with two dependent children ; she was six years (nearly seven) senior to Napoleon who was born in 1769.

Napoleon's love-letters (Budha) to Josephine were written during his travels (7, Shani-ruled) . These letters are products of his literary gift Zukra-Mithuna and his Budha ruled identity as well as Mangala-Simha (romance) in 12 imagination rules-and-aspects 3-corrspondence. These fiery, articulate, romantic love letters are still read today.
In addition to his son by Maria-Theresa, the younger namesake Napoleon, the Emperor produced a considerable number of additional offspring via an assortment of lady loves.
He was said to have gained considerable weight during his 40's, and was characterized by some observers as looking bloated or obese with a yellowish (Guru) complexion - due to Guru drishti upon Chandra.
Zukra * first partner ** Ketu * second partner
Napoleon was frequently separated (Ketu) from his wives during extended military campaigns.
Zukra-yuti-Ketu is such a challenging yoga that a loyal union might be predicted to be impossible.
So it was for the duteously-traveling military genius Emperor Self Proclaimed and his first wife, the mistress nonchalant of numerous aristocratic and commercially successful Parisian gentlemen.
Depending on whether Zukra or Ketu has the higher degree, the the second wife may be more distinctively Ketu or more Zukra in their presenting symptoms.
In Emperor Napoleon's nativity, Ketu holds the higher degree because Ketu moves "backwards". The second wife would be expected to display more pronounced Ketu-characteristics such as misty boundaries and apathy toward the contractual union.
In Napoleon's case, Zukra holds a lower degree of 16 while Ketu skirts the rashi boundary at zero degrees, suggesting that Josephine had a strong Zukra nature whilst the second wife Maria-Louisa Hapsburg was "barely there" (Ketu).
Josephine had been the previous mistress of the top man in France. At the time of her attraction to Napoleon, the previous lover had wished her to be re-purposed ... and to re-direct her her notorious over-spending (Ketu no boundaries) to another purse (Zukra expense). Josephine's first husband, by whom she had two lovely children, had been guillotined (Ketu). Being well-connected socially (Zukra-rules 11th-from-11th) she became a courtier to support her children and her luxurious tastes. Josephine was introduced to Napoleon by mutual friends at a large gathering (11).

A husband's second wife (if any) may be indicated by graha yuti Zukra. In Napoleon's case Ketu holds the higher degree therefore the 2nd-wife karaka = Ketu.
Napoleon and Maria Ludovica Leopoldina Franziska Therese Josepha Lucia von Habsburg-Lothringen were married by proxy (Ketu). Napoleon was not physically present for the wedding. There was a physical meeting and another grander ceremony about a month later.
Historically there is extensive documentation indicating that Marie-Louisa of Austria was chosen solely for her strategic utility in Napoleon's attempt to fabricate an Empire from communicative relationships (Zukra-Mithunaya-10) to other heads of state.
Her initial impression upon French Society was as a gently demure and polite person entirely disengaged (Ketu) from the Royal court.
Nevertheless she and Napoleon expressed mutual affection and a son was born. Yet in calendar time they were unable to spend even one full year together. Napoleon is quoted as calling Maria-Louisa a "disappointment" (Ketu). It is not clear who abandoned whom, but after Napoleon was forced to abdicate his throne, Maria-Louisa took their son back to Austria. Former Emperor Napoleon never saw either of them again (Ketu).
From Napoleon's perspective, Marie-Louise was a pleasant but unsustainable relationship (Ketu-yuti-Zukra).
For her own part, Maria-Louisa Hapsburg herself having completed the Ketu role in N's life went along to enjoy the rest of her life including more marriages and more children. Marie-Louise left Napoleon when she was 24 years old. She lived until age 56, married a total of three times (twice more after Napoleon) and bore a total of four live children (three more after her son with Napoleon, who also predeceased her).
