"A proud but not an arrogant nature

  • poised, self-contained and dignified.

This man will command respect

  • because of his quiet dignity of manner and bearing.

His position in his community will be secure

  • and his financial standing sound.

His weakness, however, is his susceptibility to the blandishments of the opposite sex.

He must avoid entanglements

  • which might lead to a loss of dignity,

  • since, to this man, such a loss would be a tragedy."

Goethe was a famous and prolific writer. His literary writings were continuously popular from in his own day without lapse until the present time.

However Goethe was not only a scientist and philosopher; he was also the songwriter of numerous popular bawdy German melodramas that were wildly popular and performed in taverns.

Many of his dramatic works are written for an earthy audience. These comic-tragic tales provided him with extra income beyond his court-issued executive salary.

Goethe demonstrated his genius via an astounding variety of connected fields of study.

According to wikipedia, these included "epic and lyric poetry written in a variety of metres and styles; prose and verse dramas; memoirs; an autobiography; literary and aesthetic criticism; treatises on botany, anatomy, and colour; and four novels. In addition, numerous literary and scientific fragments, more than 10,000 letters, and nearly 3,000 drawings by him are extant."

Scientific Kumbha 10th navamsha Kumbha ruled by atmakaraka Shani, contains Zukra ruler of 3-writings

Goethe was most involved with and most proud of his scientific writings, which were contextualized by the limited knowledge of his era.

Zukra rules 3-and-10 writing, management, administration * publication, correspondence, communication, scripts, analysis, drawings

Zukra rules 3 drawing *Budha tool-user occupies-1

Perhaps because, in the intervening two centuries, science has advanced while basic human consciousness has not, Goethe's drama and poetry have outperformed his scientific works over time. Yet even the older scientific drawings are still admired for their detailed accuracy and stylistic beauty.

Zukra-Kanya-2 * nichha

Although Goethe was born into the privileged classes and a high-ranking court officer, he married an earthy woman who was a house-servant and artist's nude model. He boasted to everyone that she had counter-attacked marauding soldiers who threatened their home and their children (Kanya military). Despite Christine hailing from a much lower (considered vulgar) upbringing, Goethe married her (his age 62). Goethe's socially conscious mother (Chandra in 7 = 10th-from-10th) was horrified and died soon after their wedding. They remained married until her death ten years later.

Shani-Thula * uttama-3 works of enduring social importance

Most of Goethe's written work is still in print. It is read in universities and by intellectuals who study of European culture. It is common to hear non-German intellectuals say that they undertook the study of the German language solely for the purpose of reading Goethe!

  • Goethe's style and ideals provided a major influence upon the work of Knowledge of Higher Worlds 1861-1925 Rudolf Steiner the founder of Anthroposophy.

Distinctive features of the nativity

Biographical details matched to Vimshottari Dasha periods

atmakaraka = uttama-Shani-3 = significator of the soul

a very challenging combination of a super-strong creative Surya with a super-strong governing Shani

a burning-strong Simha lagnesha * Surya in bhava-1 receiving the incoming drishti from Rahu-Dhanuzya indicates that his father was a powerful influence upon Goethe.

Budha-yuti-Surya shows Goethe's own capacity for administration-management. Indeed, his father was a town manager (Budha); vargottamsha Surya in navamsha-4 shows his father as a local (4) politician.

Karakamsha +Arudha lagna = Vrishabha-10. Goethe was a polymath with a stunning variety of talents. However his uttama-Shani is the atmakaraka, and Shani also occupies navamsha-1. He was a dignified agent of the social order, and his governance duties in the Weimar Republic were a source of public recognition and respect.

yogakaraka + Mangala-Dhanuzya* Mangala in bhava-5 rules 4 and 9. Although Mangala-Dhanushya will generally bring the energetic, dynamic movement of Mangala into the world of creative literature and celebrity politics (5), in his capacity as ruler of bandhu-4 Mangala also allows the excitement of home-invasion (1806) by French soldiers

Mangala-yuti-Rahu in bhava-5 politics-theatre * fascination with the world of drama. Children all born "out of wedlock" as suggested by exotic, exciting Rahu-5.

Johanna Christiana Sophie Vulpius was born in Weimar, 01-June-1765 and died in Weimar 06-June-1816. Christine was the non-exclusive life-partner and after 14-Oct-1806 the legal wife of Johann Wolfgang Goethe; she was the mother of his three children.

  • In a husbandly nativity, kalatra-karaka Nichha-Zukra suggests some illness or servitude of the spouse and generally imbalance-seeking-a-remedy in marriage
  • Chandra in bhava-7 normally indicates that one's primary life relationship is indeed with the Mother who is the main consultant and adviser in life. Whatever marriage partners may develop, they are expected to function primarily as parents of the shared children and less as peer consultants or romantic figures.
  • 7th-from-Chandra-7 is bhava-1 contains Budha-Simha yuti Surya-Simha suggesting that Christina deeply supported Goethe's personality (1)creativity (Simha) and love of entertainments (Simha) including his numerous romantic endeavors
