(Mrs. Joanne Murray) Author of the 'Harry Potter' books Career Profile this page in progress, please check back J.K. Rowling's stated birth date = 31-July-1965 at Chipping Sodbury Hospital in Yate, Gloucestershire, near Bristol, England. No confirmed birth time is available for Ms. Rowling. Consequently, the evaluation of her Jyotisha charts becomes a matter of skilled rectification. Rectification is a complex analytical process which is handled differently by various Jyotishi. My Jyotisha rectification process has two stages:
Luckily for the rectifying astrologer, Ms. Rowling is twice married, once divorced, and the mother of three children. The date of death for her beloved mother, from multiple sclerosis, also belongs to the public domain. All of these events have clear Jyotisha significators (karakas) which must occur at the appropriate time on the Vimshottari Dasha.
Public events and character rectification: Certain features of J. K. Rowling's life path are very distinctive: her powerful capacity for and interest in language; her major profession in fiction writing; her extensive philanthropy focused clearly on children; a failed first marriage to an (abusive) foreign husband; a successful second marriage to a professional countryman; and the shift in life circumstances from middle class family upbringing to single-parent penury to extraordinary wealth. The professions of her husbands (television journalist and physician) and her parents (aircraft engine mechanic and homemaker, both ex-military) are also known. These facts must be upheld in the rectified radix, navamsha, dashamsha, and dwadashamsha.
Career Assessment: Story Writing
Traditionally, Jyotisha finds "clerks and scribes" to have strength in administrative domain-3, while "poets and bards" belong to the domains of history (2) and entertainment (5). In my experience, successful writers of culturally celebrated literature must display strength in all three domains: 2, 3, and 5. In order for their success to include financial gain, strength in domains 11 and 9 is also required. (A technical or business writer can be quite successful without much positive contribution from the "story-telling" domain-2 or the "authorship" domain-5. This class of writers typically do not own their output. However domain-2 and -5 also should not be damaged if business writing is to succeed.) Writer Yoga The nativity features a highly auspicious parivartana yoga exchanging the rashis of L-3 Surya (the scribe, = technical manual activity of writing) with L-2 Chandra (the bard, = telling of long and wonderful tales).
Clearly some type of very powerful yoga is connecting L-1, L-2, L-3, L-4, L-5, L-8 and L-9. Compare to Surya-Chandra parivartana of Madonna One difference that makes Madonna a dancer-performer-producer and not primarily a writer:
Shani doing Good It is highly beneficial that in this "L-1, L-2, L-3, L-4, L-5, L-8 and L-9" yoga, Shani casts drishti upon L-2 Chandra and not upon His enemy L-3 Surya. Due to the Sun-Moon parivartana yoga, Surya gets the fruit of drishti from L-9 -- but none of the trouble. Very clever! Further, fortune-through-speculation-and-children of L-5 is enormously enhanced by L-5 Shukra's lordship of Ms. Rowling's *fabulous* domain-12. This native is blessed with a cosmically huge and weird imagination! Were the imagination not controlled by such an auspicious graha as Shukra in domain-3 for writing, this type of super-expansive dream life might not have gone in such a sweet and famous direction. But it did go, brilliantly (as Shukra/Simha goes), into tremendous public success, due partly to Shukra's engagement with the Sun-Moon parivartana yoga and partly to the enormous power of Rahu to magnify both benefics. Losses & Gains through Guru-yuti-Rahu Traditionally, when the lord of a domain goes into the 12th house of private imagination, matters of that domain are "lost" when the energy of those domains is submerged into the land of the subconscious. Thus Guru's two houses, domain-7 for the first marriage and domain-10 for executive leadership and public office, are "lost" to the world of 12: foreign countries where one loses one's social identity. The first husband is a highly foreign person due to L-7 in 12 but also exacerbated by extremes of Rahu. Note Rahu also occupying 7th navamsha in the bilingual communicative rashi Mithuna. The scope and vividness of the native's imagination (Guru/Rahu-12) and her love of ceremonial glamour (dispositor = Shukra/Simha-3)are quite dramatically revealed in the nativity. Fabulous Wealth and Public Acclaim Clearly Rahu mahadasha brought the explosion of public recognition and appreciation for Rowling's literary works. Rahu has the power to grandly inflate both His lord and any co-tenants sharing His house. Rahu and Guru together = amplification, expansion, grandiosity, and luxurious sensual wealth. Rahu operating in domain-12 provides a wide channel for beings without bodies to interact with and provide guidance to the native. Rahu's characters are dark and tantric. Guru's characters are generous, compassionate, and wise. Shukra's influence brings pomp and ceremony, a love of blood-line lineages (Simha) and claims upon various thrones. When Rahu inflates and amplifies L-5/L-12 Shukra, starting in approximately 1997 and continuing for 18 years, Rahu simultaneously magnifies Shukra's companions L-2 Chandra and L-1/L-4 Budha. Rahu's mahadasha releases the full imagination power inherent in the Chandra-Surya parivartana by promoting Rowling's fantasy literature through a stunning array of media channels (Shukra/3) and also by utilizing Guru's role as the seat of peer advising (7) and public presentation (10). Although Rowling like most writers is a notably private person, the role of an international celebrity is driven by public curiosity. To sustain this role for 18 years of Rahu mahadasha requires constant making of public appearances, along with a good deal of negotiating and advising support. Guru contributes the past-life good fortune necessary to sustain the public duties that fuel her success, without compromising (too much) the essential privacy needed by any creative writer. Fame = power in 10th-from-Arudha lagna
Rahu triggers Gains from L-11 Kuja & Ketu As the main graha controlling domain-12, Guru and Shukra guarantee high levels of material luxury during Rahu's mahadasha. However, Rowling's famous era of financial gainfulness during Rahu mahadasha should be attributed to Rahu's drishti upon L-6/L-11 Kuja. Rahu greatly empowers Mangala, who owns and aspects domain-11. Thus Rahu mahadasha triggers not only the " L-1, L-2, L-3, L-4, L-5, L-8 and L-9" yoga which facilitates the writing, the imagination, the publicity, and the stamina to keep it all moving forward. Rahu also triggers financial gain via L-6/L-11 through Rahu's drishti upon Kuja. Ketu occupying domain-6 can give mental illness due to excessive conceptual thinking. The person can become deranged through ungrounded spirit communication and the physical energies drained off by predatory ghosts who recklessly feed upon the native's life force. Perhaps this is going on to some minor extent? It is more likely however that Guru's protection from domain-12, casting direct drishti upon Ketu, is sufficient to protect mental health. Definitely Rahu/Guru's drishti upon domain-6 Ketu provides a second trigger to Ketu's lord L-11 Kuja, which even further enhances Rahu's income-producing wealth empowerment. Prognosis for this nativity is continuing income building extraordinary wealth, interest in the imaginative world and children, connection to foreign lands of the earth and spirit, and increasing reclusiveness after the Rahu/Ketu period. Mental health will need attention during Rahu/Ketu period. Kuja bad, Kuja good It is worth noting that according to this rectified nativity, Rahu triggers Kuja's earnings-income capability. However Kuja alone is a trouble-maker, responsible for some of the darkest days in Rowling's self-reported personal and writing career. Kuja alone is the dreaded L-6 and lord of Ketu - the agent of animosity, debt, disease, and (with Ketu) depression! Only Rahu's drishti during Rahu mahadasha can reap the benefits of Kuja as the gainful L-11 because Rahu simultaneously amplifies the co-mapped drishti upon Kuja from Guru. However Kuja is still the L-6 bad boy, and during Rahu-Kuja both high gainfulness and illness/animosity will be felt. |
