The Protestant Reformation in western Europe in the 1500's was an era of violent persecution for heresy, and continuous social upheaval caused inter alia by the rise of mercantilism, nationalism and widespread literacy due to the new printing press (Mangala-Mithunaya).

JC led a refugee sangha of Protesting Christians who were in constant danger of torture and death from their theological competitors in the Catholic Church. Despite the ongoing attacks from the taxing priesthood of the Church of Rome, the refugee protestors (Protestants) quickly realized acquisition of capital gains when freed from the taxes and tithes of the older religious hierarchy.

Although represented as an abstract theology, much of Calvin's doctrine delivered direct and indirect messages about usury, taxation, banking, and contract law. (He was a trained lawyer.)

Idelette was a widow with two living children when she married JC. Her deceased husband had been a friend of JC's. She brought a small endowment into her marriage with JC, cared diligently for his failing health (while her own health also faltered) and during the marriage she bore JC at least three children. Sadly, due to putrapathi-Shani-12, all of the children died in infancy.

Grief

In addition to his chronic illness and pervasive Anxiety , Calvin's documenters report that JC's grief following the death of his beloved wife and helpmate Idelette was unresolvable.
