• Truman was an increasingly unpopular president toward the end of his term, blamed for labor union conflicts and
  the debacle of the Korean War. He left office in Ketu/Budha period with a very low approval rating --so low that he really couldn't run for reelection.

• Yet as soon as the Shukra/Shukra period got going, he achieved great public acclaim. with 2 memoirs, Oxford doctorate, ovation by Senate etc.

Political Corruption: Compare to Nixon:

• Luckily for Truman, uchcha L-12 Surya in domain-8 protects against the worst effects of scandal, including protection against impeachment or prison. Truman retired with honor.

• By contrast, Richard Nixon with L-12 Chandra in domain-6 does not have that protection. Nixon was exposed and impeached in a shocking national scandal.

• Combine a distinguished domain-10 Shani with Shani's L5/L6 ownership, and the result is involvement in machine politics while maintaining good dignity and generally following the law...

Shani/Chandra:

• Although Shani-to-Chandra is an unfavorable 6/8 angle, and many aspects of Truman's presidency were going poorly, the Berlin airlift starting in June 1947 was a winner. It continued thru Shani/Kuja, ending May 1949.

• Chandra is karaka for food and
  caretaking, and also lord of Guru/Kuja in domain-11 for friendships, networks, goals, achievements, community. Supplying the people and
  occupiers ofwestern-occupied Berlin was an act of compassionate friendship which earned the US much approval.

• Budha/Shani period: Elected Vice president as "compromise" choice. 12-April-1945, FDR dies and Truman becomes USA President with no vice president.

Can a person really be President of the United States during their Ketu mahadasha?

If Ketu's lord is Uchcha L-4/L-7 Guru at a 5/9 angle from Ketu, the answer is Yes!

But there will be tremendous uncertainty, severed relationships, much trouble connecting to the public, and some devastatingly bad decisions due to impulsive or compulsive behavior.

Accusations regarding Communism plagued Truman's entire Ketu mahadasha.

• Rahu bhukti in particular gives intense desires and
  dealings with taboo foreigners

• Ketu/L-11 Chandra: Truman recognized the State of Israel on May 14, 1948. [L-11 for Friendship.]

• Ketu/Rahu: NATO: creating agreements with foreign nations, shepherding through Congress and
  passage

• Ketu/Rahu period: Always a time of upheavel, all the moreso when Rahu is in lagna.

  • The entire inside of the original White House was gutted due to structural weakness, new basements dug etc. Truman's family lived elsewhere, and President Truman walked to work. White House gutted from December 1949 until Ketu/Budha started in March 1952

• Ketu/Kuja: November 1948: [re] elected USA President in a stunning reversal [note Kuja yuti Ketu's lord, uchcha Guru].

Even without Guru's help, neechcha Kuja does a fairly good job in domain-11.

  • On April 11, 1951, Truman fired the extremely popular General MacArthur from all his commands in Korea and Japan.

  • Within a short time, Truman's approval rating was 22%.

  • White house renovations are finally finished, and Truman's family moves back in.

  • Approval ratings extremely low.

  • Did not run for Nov 1952 re-election.

• age 68-88

• Shukra/Shukra period :two highly successful presidential memoirs, to great public acclaim.

• A visit to Britain at the very end of Shukra/Shukra resulted in an honorary doctorate from Oxford, and much showing of international respect.

Death age 88 = Dec 26, 1972, in Shukra/Ketu period, where Ketu occupies domain-7 and Shukra is maraka lord of 2 and 7 fromThulaChandra.

• Ketu's lord Guru is with neechcha Kuja, who gives death by drowning. Truman died of pneumonia (drowning in interior lung fluid.)

• Domain-8 shows the circumstances of death. L-12 Surya, ruling hospitals and
  sanctuaries, occupies domain-8, indicating death in a hospital, ashram, or other enclosure.
