Radix Moon in PurvaAshadha

= "Early Victory"- Dedication & Ambition

(Shukra - Guru - Apah)

Purva-Ashadha "the invincible sea". One is emotionally oriented toward ensuring connection through being absorbed into the Source, as water is absorbed into the ocean.

The native is attractive (Guru-Shukra); one's eyes are quite entrancing.

However Shukra-Guru influence upon Purvashadha Soma has a major downside of potential self-deception. Shukra is the great deceiver!

One may become addicted (Shukra) to the pleasures of self-righteous satisfaction (Shukra-Guru).

Higher truth gets twisted when inclusive & compassionate Guru must express His will through the auspice of self-pleasuring Shukra. Shukra = daityaguru, teacher of the demons. Shukra seduces the native toward indulgence in the drug of self-satisfaction.

Shukra uses Guru's influence of belief in great truths and guidance by a holy priesthood, to convince the native that one is the path and proof of unassailable righteousness. Without sufficient consciousness, one may become a victim of this nasty trick.

Purvashadha Chandra enjoys a feeling of accomplishment. There is pleasure (Shukra)  in believing (Guru)  that one's early victories in life, which have brought luxury (Shukra) and expansion (Guru), are "proof" of one's righteous path.

Aside from the interpersonal annoyance caused by Purvashadha's typical arrogance, the biggest problem facing the native who wishes to achieve consciousness while born under the Purva-ashadha Moon = self-isolation from negative facts or criticism.

One may sink deeper and deeper into addiction to the feeling of self-righteous satisfaction. One may enter an emotionally comfortable but psychologically unbalanced  delusion. The delusion originates in emotional need for self-justification. The native wants to believe (Guru) that one is not bound by moral principle or compassion, but rather one is a chosen "eugenic" leader who can do and say no wrong.

Therefore one may treat others - one's spouse and children, one's community, one's nation or the world -- with any degree of dehumanizing disregard. Emotionally, it is only one's ability to keep getting the drug of self-righteous confirmation which matters.

When criticism, contradiction, principled disagreement, or other antidotes to the emotional drug of divinely approved self-satisfaction come along, the native tends to reject the humanity of others. There is risk of extreme isolation from any source of realistic, correcting input that might disturb the righteous-pleasure state.

It is easy for Purva-ashadha to dance merrily down the path of dehumanizing self-righteousness of , while believing that one has been granted some sort of divine privilege, based on "early victories".

Toward the end of WWII,  Adolph Hitler became increasingly hostile to negative reports from the field. His response was not to make corrections, but rather to isolate himself from the voices of criticism.  Hitler died in an iconic state of self-isolation: in a reinforced concrete underground bunker, surrounded by a small team of worshippers. Note: Hitler's Purvashadha Chandra + swakshetra Guru (tremendous expansion of the power of belief) + Ketu (extreme emotional detachment).

Mrs. Barbara Bush was negatively famous her disregard for the charitable social service which is traditionally undertaken by wives of US Senators and Presidents. Her most notorious dehumanizing comment was made when she was asked her view of the human cost of war in Iraq (being declared by her son G.W. Bush at that moment). She said, "why should we hear about body bags, and deaths ... and how many ... why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"  Mrs. Bush also has Purvaashadha Chandra expanded by the swakshetra Guru (in lagna!) and her Soma receives drishti from Kuja, Shukra, and Shani.

This native, however wrong-headed one may be, will resist any change of course on their destined movement toward the Source. Faced with a challenge, this one cannot easily change strategy or tactic; but Purvashadha will never give up the pursuit of the goal.

One achieves "early victory" through being in the right place at the right time to take skillful advantage of a grassroots social movement, a sudden marriage or business opportunity, or a sea-change in public tastes. The early advantage is generally maintained throughout life.

When damaged by hostile effects, Purvashadha Moon creates religious fundamentalists, ideologues, and tyrants. Pursuit of personal aggrandizement often manifests as a lack of compassion for others.

When supported by friendly effects, Purvashadha Moon gives the power to sustain religious vows, and stay loyal to fundamental principle in any undertaking.

The key to success with Purvashadha Chandra is, indeed, to choose one's commitments carefully. Because after making the first, early commitment, one will be emotionally unable to change course for the rest of one's life.

Should one's initial viewpoint turn out to have been wrong, Purvashadha moon will die trying. I.e., hoist by one's own petard, caught in his own web, and goes down with the ship.

Yet:

when steady, loyal commitment to an early-life vow,

or a simplistic, one-size-fits-all ideological solution to a complex human problem,

are the keys to success, this native will achieve the pinnacle.

Positive traits include personal determination, work ethic, fierce loyalty to a person or a cause, and unshakable commitment to reach the goal regardless of its validity

May be tremendous supporters of religious institutions, ideologies, & fundamental moral principles, especially in a dogmatic form.

The female tends to be a loyal & unquestioning spouse, unswervingly committed to her husband's programme. The male tends to find a devoted wife.

Negative traits are more famous for Purvashadha. Considerable difficulties in accepting professional & collegial advice from those holding a higher viewpoint.

Associated with low birth (esp. for males; see Adolf Hitler), constitutional stubbornness, and abuse of relatives including incest & embezzlement of family funds.

For Purvashadha, the ends will justify the means.

Purvashadha's victorious end is some sort of dominant power, and Purvashadha's means can include dehumanization of the human obstacles in one's path.

Like water flowing to the sea, Purvashadha is unstoppable, invincible, and gains its goal. Should Purvashadha's desires overflow their natural channel, a deadly flood may result.

  • Deep emotional need for absorptive connection.

Spiritual director of this section of the path:

  • Apah, god of Water

  • (Barun)

Trauma profile:

  • fear of  aggressive threat, fear of bondage, fear of being held back, or fear of enforced waiting

  • (needs pleasure and gratification now).

Navamsha Moon in  PurvaAshadha (intimate relationships).

In order to mirror one's own subconscious emotional patterns, one attracts a core partner who expresses Purvashadha behavior.

Under emotional stress in relationships, the native with navamsha Chandra in Purvashadha can experience anxiety reactions that manifest as compulsive merging & clinging & obsessive repetition of claims based on vows or statements of commitment from the past.

Navamsha Chandra in Purvaashadha indicates a deep resistance to "mid-course corrections" in the native's own psyche, which if personally unacknowledged must be expressed through the partner's actions.

The partner needs clear sense of direction in the relationship, and a simple set of working principles or vows to ground the commitment. The partner cannot handle too much complexity and the partner may be unable to adapt or change his/her life strategy if & when life circumstances require adaptive change.

Partner is hard-working, mono-focused, typically quite beautiful (Guru-Shukra)  typically with lovely eyes.

Depending on the nakshatra of the native's radix Moon, the partner's emotional resistance to change may be a source of conflict and eventually separation in a relationship.

Due to its sense of merging and flowing toward a fixed destination, Purvashadha nakshatra is a good place for sustaining vows and partner commitments, but excessively rigid or legalistic interpretation of the early promises can cause resentment along the path of spiritual growth. It is good to introduce more compassion into the ongoing interpretation of early promises, if humanly possible.
